BSI Racing Earns First Podium in MX-5 Cup at Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, FL –

Jan 30, 2024

BSI Racing secured its first podium of the 2024 season with a third-place finish for Selin Rollan of Rollan Racing at Daytona International Speedway on Friday. Rollan now leads the team in points with 430, putting him in fourth place after rounds one and two.

“What a couple of days of racing here at Daytona.”, said Rollan.

“Really happy to get BSI (Racing) its first podium. Now we just got to continue on in the points to get that team championship and driver championship.”

Rollan wasn’t the only BSI driver to run at the front of the pack during last week's season opener. Connor Zilisch led the most laps during race one, just coming shy of the podium with a fifth-place finish. The Mazda MX-5 Cup veteran was fast again in race two but would have to retire after the 72 experienced a brake issue.

Rookies Julian DaCosta and Westin Workman began the season with strong performances, including points for laps led. Workman’s pair of top-10 finishes puts him as the team’s second-highest points leader as he sits in sixth place.

Heather Hadley sits at 25th in the points but secured $4,000 in earnings after a weekend sweep for the highest-finishing female driver in both races. Ethan Tyler rounds out the series top 10 with 360 points and a strong performance in race two.

“There’s a ton of positives for our debut.”, Said Team Co-Owner and principal Shea Holbrook.

“Obviously we didn’t come away with everything we wanted but that’s how it goes here sometimes. Daytona is great track that presents fun challenges for drivers, so for us to get the front row for race one, and to finish with a podium in race two is really encouraging. We have a lot of good to work with going into Sebring.”

BSI Racing returns to the track on Mar 13 at Sebring.
