ICYMI - BSI, Zilisch, Nab Win at Mid-Ohio

BSI Racing enjoyed a successful weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, last week. In Connor Zilisch’s return to the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup, presented by Michelin, BSI Racing found themselves on the top step after race one for the No. 72.

In yet another exciting entry into a series that has become synonymous with competitive racing and extremely close finishes, Zilisch held off reigning series champion Jared Thomas, for his first win of the 2024 season. Zilisch, Thomas, and Gresham Wagner of McCumbee-McAleer Racing led a wire-to-wire race on Saturday afternoon.

Zilisch started the race P4 after an up-and-down set of practices on Friday that put him in the middle of the pack heading into qualifying.

“I can’t thank the guys at BSI enough for all the work they put into getting the car ready before qualifying. Really excited to get my first MX-5 Cup win of the season.”

Though it would be the only podium of the weekend for BSI Racing, Zilisch, and rookie teammate Westin Workman notched a pair of top-five finishes in race number two.

Workman pushed up the field from a P11 start to just missing the podium with a P4 finish. The rookie would link up with Zilisch late in the race but yielded the position to Nate Cicero on the second to last turn.

“Everyone busted their tails this weekend to squeeze everything we could out of these cars. Connor is a special driver with immense talent, so I’m pumped and not surprised that he got a win here. There was just so much that went into that,” Holbrook continued.

“Disappointed that we couldn’t get Westin on the podium after his performance in race two, but I’m so proud of his fight. We needed these results this weekend, and I keep telling the rest of our drivers that the payoff is right there in front of them. I’m excited to see what everyone does in Toronto. I believe in everyone here and proud of their hard work”

BSI Racing will be off for three weeks before heading to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in July.
