BSI Racing has become synonymous with the Mazda Motorsports brand. Serving at the grassroots level in various SCCA Spec Miata Championships before entering IMSA’s Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup for the 2024 season.
But another brand has entered the fold. In 2023, BSI Racing tackled the Toyota GR Cup before expanding its roster and entering again for the upcoming 2024 season. Now, BSI carries the umbrella of two of the biggest brands in motorsports, Mazda and Toyota.
Enter the next phase.
For the first time in BSI Racing’s history, the team, helmed by Nick and Shea (Holbrook) Chorley, entered the Roar Before the 24 at Daytona, the leadup event before the Rolex 24. Partnering with Tailored Chassis Solutions and driver Eric Thompson, BSI Racing entered a Toyota Supra GT4 into the VP Racing Challenge at the Roar.
As the event quickly came together, so did the positive results, with Thompson qualifying P6 for race one. After an early slip-up in turn one on cold tires, Thompson would drop down to P11 before clawing his way back to a P6 finish. The exact spot that he qualified in.
“I’m pleased with my performance even though I can critique myself to death.”, said Thompson.
Race two would see another strong performance from Thompson, who admittedly had not driven consecutive races on a weekend since 2019. BSI and Thompson finished P7 in the final race of the weekend.
“I just think this speaks volumes on how committed we are to putting fast race cars in challenging fields.”, said Team Owner Shea Holbrook.
“We are in the business of racing, and that means racing hard and racing fast. This came together pretty quickly for us, so it puts another feather in our cap of just what BSI is capable of pulling off.”
